Behonsay Williams is struck by a car on Monday, June 1, 2020, as protesters blocked the intersection of Providence and Broadway in Columbia, Missouri. The protest was sparked by the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police on Memorial Day. The incident was one of a few tense moments in an evening of otherwise peaceful protest. Williams was knocked to the ground as the vehicle sped through the intersection. After several minutes, other protesters assisted her in getting back on her feet. The young woman refused medical attention and spent the rest of the evening continuing to protest.
